| Thank you for choosing to continue your academic studies with NOVA. We look forward to your return to NOVA in Summer 2007. Because you have applied for classes in the past, you are already familiar with the enrollment process. Simply follow the steps outlined below. If you need more information, refer to the "New Student's Guide to Applying for Credit Admission."
NOTE: If it has been more than three years since your last class at NOVA, you must reapply for admission.
Step 1 Apply for Financial Aid
- To maintain eligibility for financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. To be considered for aid in Summer 2007, you must file the FAFSA at least four weeks before your tuition payment is due. You may submit an online FAFSA at http://www.FAFSA.ed.gov. See "Applying for Financial Aid and Veteran's Benefits" for more information. Be sure to include the College’s School Code: NVCC 003727.
- Once you have filed the FAFSA, you can check on your financial aid status at NOVA’s self service website, NovaConnect, www.nvcc.edu.

Step 2 Meet With Your Advisor
Don’t risk losing valuable time and money by choosing the wrong course. Set up a meeting with your faculty advisor or counselor to make sure you’re taking the right courses to achieve your academic goals. This is especially important if you plan to eventually transfer NOVA credits to another college or university for baccalaureate degree studies.
If you will be graduating, you must meet with your faculty advisor no later than May 18 to review your academic record. You must submit your application for Summer term graduation no later than June 1 to the Student Service Center.
Step 3 Enroll in Classes
To enroll for classes, use NovaConnect on the Web at www.nvcc.edu/novaconnect/ or the NovaConnect telephone enrollment system at 703-323-3770 or 703-330-3770 (Prince William County). See also the NovaConnect Telephone Enrollment Helpful Hints section.
HELPFUL HINT: Be sure to click the class section in NovaConnect Class Search to reveal the important course details.
- F-1 Students - Enrollment requirements for continuing F-1 students:
- F-1 students may enroll in the summer as either full time or part time students.
- In the fall and spring semesters, F-1 students may only count one on-line class or 3 credits towards the required 12 credits. In the summer F-1 students are not required to register and therefore this limitation to on-line classes does not apply.
- If you have any question about how your enrollment may affect your F-1 status, contact an international student advisor before registering.
Step 4 Pay Your Tuition
Turn to page X for a step-by-step guide to paying your tuition and fees.
Be sure to pay your tuition by the deadline date indicated. If you neglect to do so, you risk being shut out of the classes you need in order to stay on track.
Remember that you are financially responsible for all classes for which you register. If you decide to drop a class, you must cancel it through NovaConnect or notify the College. If you fail to do so, you will be charged for that class.
If you wish to pay your tuition in installments, be sure to enroll in the FACTS program before your tuition due date. For a non-refundable fee ($35, $40 or $45 depending on the number of payments selected), FACTS let you pay your tuition in monthly interest-free payments. The earlier you enroll in the program, the lower the monthly payment will be. For more information or to enroll online, go to www.nvcc.edu/tuitionandfees/facts.htm.
Step 5 Print Receipts
Be sure to print out a copy of your class schedule every time you make a change. Don’t forget to also print out a copy of your payment receipt.
Step 6 Buy Your Books
You can purchase your books at the campus bookstore where the course is taught, or order them online at www.bkstore.com/nvcc/. Students with adequate financial aid may use that aid to purchase textbooks at the College’s bookstores.

Step 7 Buy Your Parking Permit
Buy online beginning March 27, 2007, at http://parking.nvcc.edu/. Your permit will be mailed to you. You can print a temporary seven-day pass from the website to use immediately.
Parking Offices accept only cash or checks for permits until the first day of classes. Once classes begin, Parking Offices will also accept credit cards.
Permits are required for all vehicles parked in all lots except at parking meters and hourly pay lots. Student permits are valid only in “B” lots. Parking enforcement on “B” lots will resume for the summer session at 6 a.m. on June 4, 2007.
The charge for a parking permit is $55 per term. A current semester parking permit is required for all semesters/sessions of enrollment.
To use the parking garages at the Annandale and Medical Education campuses without any additional charge, you must have a NOVACARD ID as well as a valid parking permit. Hourly pay parking is also available in the garages if you do not have a current permit and ID card.

Step 8 Get Your Student Identification Card (NOVACARD)
You can obtain your NOVACARD a minimum of 24 hours after you enroll for classes. NOVACARDS are valid for two years. If you are taking classes for the first time at the Annandale or Medical Education campuses, NOVACARD is also required for valid permit holders to use the garages on those campuses. Step 9 Activate Your Free Student E-Mail Account
If your free NOVA e-mail account is not active, activate it before the start of Summer 2007 classes. For instructions, go to www.nvcc.edu/ithd/studentmail.html.
