Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) is a two-year comprehensive community college offering college-transfer, occupational-technical programs, and non-credit continuing education courses. NVCC has five campuses (Alexandria, Annandale, Loudoun, Manassas, and Woodbridge) conveniently located throughout Northern Virginia, and an Extended Learning Institute (ELI) offering courses for home study and distance learning. A new Medical Education Center located in Springfield and dedicated to education in Medical Technologies opened its doors in fall 2003.

The mission of NVCC is to respond to the educational needs of its dynamic and diverse constituencies through an array of comprehensive programs and services that facilitate learning and workforce development in an environment of open access and through lifelong educational opportunities.

NVCC is a part of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia, 30033-4097, telephone number 404-679-4501) to award associate degrees, and certificates in selected occupational areas. It is the policy of both Northern Virginia Community College and the Virginia Community College System to maintain and promote equal employment and educational opportunities without regard to race, color, sex or age (except where sex or age is a bona fide occupational qualification), religion, disability, national origin, marital status, veteran status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or other non-merit factors. Inquiries concerning affirmative action and equal opportunity policies should be addressed to the College’s director of Affirmative Action/Minority and Legal Affairs, whose office is located in the Brault Building at the Annandale Campus (703-323-3266).
