          students of 40+ age and overweight
          students who need lower intensity and
          less impact exercise.  Lecture
          emphasizes weight management and
          effects of aging.

          Students who have not submitted at
          least one assignment by the third
          week of class will be withdrawn from
          the course.
           
          For sections 05W, 06W, 07W and
          08W, these two-credit sections will
          meet both PED and elective
          requirements.

          Backpacking.  Class will meet on
          the following dates:
          Sep. 7 - Lecture, 9 AM - 12 noon
          Sep. 14- Lecture, 9 AM - 12 noon
          Sep. 22 - Day hike
          Sep. 28-29 - Overnight backpacking
          Oct. 12-13 - Overnight backpacking
          Students must be able to handle the
          physical rigors of backpacking.
          Smoking will not be permitted during
          trips.  Students must supply their
          own transportation.  Trip dates
          dependent on weather conditions.
