Credit for Evaluated Training Programs and Certificates

NOVA faculty, the American Council on Education (ACE) and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) evaluate and recommend college credit for nontraditional learning through training programs provided by industry, state and federal government, employers, professional organizations and other agencies. If you completed an evaluated training, you may be eligible to submit documentation to apply transfer credits to your NOVA program.

Evaluated By:

NOVA Faculty

NOVA faculty reviewed and recommended college credit for training programs in the areas of criminal justice, early childhood education, LPN, respiratory therapy, fire science technology, EMT and more. A full list of evaluated training programs and their NOVA equivalent courses can be found in the CPL Manual (Section 2).

If you completed an evaluated training program you may submit documentation to a campus Student Services Center and complete the online Transfer Credit Evaluation Request Form 125-049E. The credits will be evaluated by NOVA and if eligible, they will be posted as transfer credit to your record.

Once your documents are submitted, the evaluation will be processed within four to six weeks. All official transfer credit evaluations are handled by the College Records Office. You can contact the College Records Office by emailing AsktheCRO@nvcc.edu. When you email them, please include your NOVA student ID number. All communication from the CRO regarding the evaluation of your transfer credits will be sent to your NOVA student email address.

Please visit the College Records Office (CRO) website for more information about transfer credit evaluation.

ACE or NCCRS

The American Council on Education (ACE) and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) evaluate workplace courses and training programs for organizations across the nation and recommend the training for college credit. These programs help adults gain access to academic credit for formal courses and certifications taken outside the traditional classroom.

You can search these agencies’ websites to see if any of your training has been evaluated for credit.
