Students, Faculty and Staff:
On Tues., April 23, at approximately 10:55 p.m., NOVA Police responded to a call about an injured person on the ground near the parking garage on the Annandale Campus.
NOVA officers and Fairfax County EMS were notified and responded. Upon their arrival they located an injured male. The individual was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, there is nothing that suggests foul play was involved. The individual was not a NOVA student; he was a local high school student. Fairfax County Police is the lead investigative agency for this incident; all questions should be referred to them.

On April 23 at approximately 10:55 p.m., NOVA Police responded to a call about an injured person on the ground near the parking garage on the Annandale Campus. Fairfax County Police were notified. Fairfax County Police are taking the lead and all questions surrounding the nature of the investigation need to be referred to them.

Students, Faculty and Staff:
Be advised that because NOVA holds classes for service members at Quantico Marine Corps Base, the following information is to notify students, faculty and staff of an incident that occurred overnight on base.
A fatal shooting occurred at Marine Corps Base Quantico Officer Candidate School around 11 p.m. on March 21 and Marine Corps Base Quantico has returned to normal operations. The base has indicated that the public is not in danger and NOVA classes are not impacted.

Students, Faculty and Staff:
On Oct. 15 at 2:16 p.m., a female student came to the NOVA police office to report that she was sexually assaulted while walking to her vehicle on the upper level of the Dawes garage. Student was not injured and did not require medical attention. Police resources were deployed and the investigation began.
Later that night at approximately 9:50 p.m., the suspect was observed walking on the Alexandria Campus and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Alexandria Magistrate, charged with the assault and remanded to the custody of the Alexandria City Jail. The suspect is not a student at NOVA. NOVA Police have no other reported incidents where they believe the suspect may be involved.
Because similar incidents have been reported in other areas of Northern Virginia, NOVA Police have notified local jurisdictions of the arrest.

Be advised that at 2:16 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, NOVA Police were notified of a forcible fondling incident at NOVA’s Alexandria Campus that occurred in the upper level of the Dawes Garage closest to the Engineering Building. The victim had no physical injuries. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’7”, medium build, short hair, wearing a red shirt and baggy dark jeans.
NOVA Police have increased police presence on the Alexandria Campus. If you have safety concerns, police escorts are available at any time. Call (703) 764-5000 for a police escort.
As always, be aware of your surroundings. It’s always better to walk in pairs and trust your instincts. Students, faculty and staff are asked to stay alert and report suspicious activity to NOVA Police at (703) 764-5000.

NOVA Police and Fairfax County Police are working together on the ongoing investigation of the robbery that took place on Thursday, Oct. 4 at NOVA’s Annandale Campus. Further investigation revealed the victim suffered minor injuries and is not a NOVA student or faculty/staff member.
If you have safety concerns, police escorts are available at any time. As always should you witness suspicious activity or feel unsafe, call the police at 911 or (703)764-5000.
As a safety reminder whenever meeting a stranger to conduct a transaction, it is safest to conduct the business in a public place such as a coffee shop and to have someone else with you. If the person is responding to an advertisement placed and sets locations or other conditions that do not feel appropriate, trust your instincts and do not meet the person.

Be advised that at 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, a robbery took place at the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. The victim arranged to meet someone and during the meeting had his phone forcefully taken from him. There were no weapons involved.
One suspect is described as a black male, 6’0”, 200 lbs., wearing a red/black shirt and cargo pants. The second suspect is described as a black female, heavy set, and wearing pink pants. The suspects were seen driving away in a burgundy SUV. The victim suffered minor injuries and is not a NOVA student or faculty/staff member.
NOVA Police have increased police presence on the Annandale Campus for the night. Please call the College Police at 703-764-5000 if you have any information.

Students, Faculty and Staff:
At approximately 11:45 a.m., Prince William County Police along with NOVA Police responded to a call about a bomb threat at the Woodbridge Campus. As a precaution, the entire campus was evacuated and closed for the remainder of the day.
After a thorough investigation, the Prince William County Police Department reported that the incident had been resolved with no evidence of a bomb on the Woodbridge Campus. The campus will open as regularly scheduled tomorrow, May 9, 2012.

Students, Faculty and Staff:
Alexandria City Police Department notified NOVA Police of a robbery near the Alexandria Campus between West Braddock and North Beauregard. At approximately 10:40 a.m., two Hispanic males approached a female from behind and stole her purse. The suspects fled the scene on foot. Police K-9 dogs lost track of them at the apartments to the rear of the Tyler building.
One suspect was 4’11"-5’ tall, wearing a grey striped hoodie, a black ball cap, and glasses. The second suspect was 5’-5’2” tall, wearing a light-colored shirt. No further description is available at this time.
Alexandria City Police and NOVA Police are continuing their investigations. Students, faculty and staff are asked to stay alert and report suspicious activity to NOVA Police at 703.764.5000.

Be advised that at 4:32 p.m., a robbery took place on the Alexandria Campus in the 4800 block of Dawes Ave. The suspect was a black male last seen running towards King St. There were no injuries, and no weapons were involved. Police are on the scene.
There is no immediate danger at this time. Please contact the Campus Police at 703.764.5000 if you have any information.

Be advised that the NOVA Police were notified today that an individual at the Alexandria Campus was robbed at knife point between the Tyler Building and Dawes Avenue around 5:51 p.m. The individual was not hurt and is not a student or a faculty/staff member.
The suspect is described as a male in his mid to late teens, dark complexion, 5’6", 110 lbs., wearing a black North Face coat, gray jeans, a green and purple hat and a black and red belt.

NOVA has received information that David Moore would like to harm people at the Manassas Campus. To ensure the safety and security of the College, he has been barred and is prohibited from coming to any NOVA locations or any College sponsored events.
In today's world it is always better to be prepared and informed and we urge everyone to always take precautions and to take their personal safety seriously. The NOVA Police Department is asking that if you see David Moore on any NOVA campus or property to immediately notify them at 703.764.5000.

We want to inform you about several related incidents that occurred over the past week at the Annandale Campus to ensure your safety while on campus. We have had reported incidents throughout the day and evening of two separate individual males working together asking for gas money. The faculty/staff/students are being randomly approached in and out of buildings and are being asked “can you help me with gas money”. These individuals have not yet committed a crime, but in the past incidents similar to these have led to thefts of wallets and cash. Please DO NOT give these individuals any money.

NOVA Police received information that at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, a student was robbed near the Alexandria Campus in the area of 5200 block of Fillmore Avenue. The suspect description is male, 6’2"–6'3", black mask covering face, black hoodie, black gloves, and jeans. The incident is being investigated by the Alexandria City Police.
This information is being shared so people may take appropriate precautions. If you see any suspicious activity, please call NOVA Police at 703.764.5000 or 911.

NOVA has received information that Neil Akkor, a former student, is alleged to have made additional comments that he would like to harm a specific instructor at the Annandale Campus. (The comments stem from an incident where he was arrested during October 2009.)

Based on this, the NOVA Police Department is asking that if anyone sees Neil Akkor on any NOVA campus or property to immediately notify the Police at 703.764.5000.

Be advised that there is an individual that is approaching students and asking for gas money and in some cases grabs money from the victim’s wallet and flees with more money than originally requested. These incidents have occurred at the Annandale and Alexandria Campuses.
The suspect is described as a white male, blonde hair, slim built and is to believed to be in his late teens to early twenties.
