Career Studies Certificate

Purpose:  The Theatre Career Studies Certificate program is designed to meet the needs of individuals seeking to develop further skills in acting, directing, arts management, technical theatre, and theatre scholarship. It extends theatre opportunities outside of the classroom and into community, educational, and professional theatres. (Offered by NOVA's Communication Studies and Theatre Arts Departments)










One Year Core Courses

1st semester:
CST 110 Introduction to Communication or
      CST 100 Principles of Public Speaking                   -3 cr.

CST 130 Introduction to Theatre                          or
      CST 141 Theatre Appreciation I                              -3 cr.
CST 131 Acting I                                                          -3 cr.
                                                                    Subtotal = 9 credits
2nd semester:
CST 136 Theatre Workshop                                          -3 cr.
*CST Electives                                                              -6 cr.
                                                                      Subtotal =9 credits

Total Credits for Theatre Career Studies Certificate     =18 credits

Depending on students' interests, *CST electives may give students more experience in one or more areas of technical theatre, performance, and/or scholarship, etc.
