James B. Cole
President and CEO, Virginia Hospital Center (Arlington)
Jim Cole is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington since 1994. Previously he served as Vice President for Professional Services, Vice President for Strategic Planning and Chief Operating Officer from 1985 until 1994.
He has over 25 years experience in Hospital administration and is active in both professional and civic associations. He is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and an alternate delegate to the Regional Policy Board, American Hospital Association. He is immediate past Chairman of the Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance and Chairman of Crosslink International, an international humanitarian aid organization. Mr. Cole also serves on the Advisory Boards of Northern Virginia Community College School of Nursing and Health Sciences, CRISISLINK, George Mason University College of Nursing and Health Science, the Arlington Free Clinic, and Marymount University School of Business Administration. He has served as a Board member of the Virginia Hospital and Health Care Association and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
His civic interests include the Arlington Host Lions Club and Columbia Baptist Church.
Mr. Cole was born and raised in Virginia. He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1970, Master of Urban Planning from the University of Washington in 1972 and Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University in 1976.
