Outstanding Service to the College 2008
Connie Childress
Division Administrative Coordinator - Annandale
“The thing I like best about working at NOVA is the interaction with the students. I worked for a Major General in the U.S. Army for years before I became a stay-at-home mother and while I loved that job, the atmosphere here at NOVA is different than your typical office. When a student leaves my office whom I have managed to help and they are always so appreciative it’s a really good feeling. A nice new office with a window, great fellow staff members and terrific faculty to work with – what else could I ask for? The combination makes for a great working environment.”
Kimberly Nicely
Administrative Support/Adjunct for Health Information Management
“What I enjoy most about working for NOVA is the stimulating interaction that comes from a widely diverse student population with just as widely diverse goals, objectives, wants and needs. I enjoy the challenges of establishing a positive learning environment conducive for our students in achieving their goals.”
Jeff Petraca
Director of Technical Applications
“My reaction when I won this award was honored, humbled and overwhelmed. I feel my efforts where part of a team and that the team contributes to the success.”
“I enjoy helping students, faculty and staff to have access to information that provides a better learning and work experience.”
Natalie Safley
Assistant Dean of Speech and Drama - Loudoun
“Teaching is my passion; at NOVA I am able to focus on teaching. Other institutions prefer instructors to focus on research; here the focus is on teaching and learning.”
“ I was surprised and humbled. There are so many instructors at NOVA that go above and beyond each day, never receiving any recognition. I feel honored to receive this award and hope to “pay it forward” by nominating a deserving colleague.”
