Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) President Scott Ralls today announced his support of the newly-launched Growth4VA campaign, which will focus on promoting reform and reinvestment in Virginia’s top-ranked higher education system. The campaign, backed by a partnership of higher education and business leaders, aims to help grow the Virginia economy, expand access to education and job opportunities for all Virginians and regain Virginia’s #1 ranking for business.
Virginia’s colleges, universities and community colleges are stepping up to help achieve these goals. Working with partners in the business community, we will be offering practical policies and creative ideas focused on four strategies:
Make Virginia the Top State for Talent
Become recognized as the Home of Innovators and Entrepreneurs
Prepare Virginians for Great Jobs and Great Lives
Provide Affordable Access for All Virginians
NOVA collaborates with employers, economic development organizations, community–based organizations, workforce development boards and other educational institutions to address the skills gap and deliver a robust talent pipeline for the region. The College does this to ensure Northern Virginia businesses remain globally competitive. NOVA provides access to highly-skilled, credentialed and diverse talent along with affordable pathways for those seeking family-supporting careers.
“Whether it is through partnering with the nation’s largest technology association (the Northern Virginia Technology Council) or teaming with the Commonwealth’s largest university (George Mason University), NOVA is committed to serving our business and civic communities. NOVA and Mason are grateful for and supportive of the efforts of the Business Higher Education Council.”
