The Automotive Program at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College was recently approved to offer ASE testing at the campus.
“I applaud our automotive faculty for bringing this important initiative to our campus,” Manassas Provost Molly Lynch said. “Opening this ASE testing center says we are here to serve all the automotive educational and testing needs for technicians in our region.”
Automotive instructor Myles Embrey said the Manassas Campus testing center will make it easier for local technicians to get certified.
“Our testing center will serve an estimated 10,000 automotive technicians in our service area as well as our students. Before we opened, the nearest testing center was in Falls Church or Richmond. Now technicians can come here and it’ll be much more convenient. In addition, we hope all our students will become ASE certified after each automotive class they complete, making them more desirable to employers,” he said.
ASE is short for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Since 1972, this independent nonprofit organization has worked to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying automotive professionals. ASE certification testing means peace of mind for auto service managers and customers.
ASE testing at NOVA-Manassas will occur year-round. To register, technicians go to www.ase.com and then select the desired tests and the closest test center. They will then receive a registration code and a phone number to call to make an appointment.
