NOVA and local elementary and middle school students to take center stage
The Northern Virginia Community College NOVA Alexandria Band, the John Adams Elementary School Orff Ensemble and the George Mason Elementary School Jazz Band will perform a variety of musical selections as part of the Children’s Concert. The concert is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 2 at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at the Alexandria Campus, 4915 East Campus Drive, Alexandria, VA 22311.
This year’s concert is presented by the NOVA Alexandria Band with special guest Trumpeter Dennis Edelbrock. The Children’s Concert reflects the Alexandria Campus’ commitment to its community and is also a celebration of music education in the city’s local schools.
Music will include "Star Wars" movie music by John Williams and "Bugler's Holiday" by Leroy Anderson. Other selections will be by Carl Orff, Duke Ellington, Ennio Morricone, Herbert L. Clarke, Vittorio Monti, James Curnow, and Vincent Persichetti.
The Grand Finale will include a combined performance by the NOVA Alexandria Band and area elementary and middle school students. The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is free in the Beauregard Street Garage.
