Since July 2010, Jill MacDiarmid at the Manassas Campus has been a member of JillianMichaels.com. Michaels, of the hit TV show “Biggest Loser,” created a challenge for site members called “make the change, be the change.” The challenge components include leadership, nutrition and fitness. The grand prize of the challenge is an all expense paid trip to the Get R.A.D.I.C.A.L Conference in the District of Columbia in March for the winner and a guest. The winner will also meet Michaels.
As a part of MacDiarmid’s challenge goals, she has created a team for the Pound for Pound Challenge. For every pound pledged, 11 cents will be donated to Feeding America, which is enough to secure a pound of food for an area food bank. If you are interested in pledging pounds, simply go to the website and pledge to lose or maintain weight. Currently, Virginia is ranked 31st with 29,600 pounds pledged.
The team MacDiarmid created is called “Virginia Is for Losers” (as in weight losers). She states, “If faculty and staff members are participating in the governor’s challenge, they can also jump on Pound for Pound and pledge to lose 10 pounds there.” There is no expense to anyone who pledges to lose or maintain weight.
More information about the Pound for Pound Challenge can be found at http://www.pfpchallenge.com/. “Virginia Is for Losers” has selected the Blue Ridge Food Bank as the donation site. Also check out MacDiarmid’s “Virginia is for losers! Weight losers, of course.” Facebook page.
