The Alexandria Campus Band will present a family concert featuring the music of American composers on Friday, February 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center on the Alexandria Campus. Selections will include American Elegy and music from “The Incredibles.” In addition, the concert will feature two guest soloists, retired Army Band trumpeter Dennis Edlebrock performing a fantasia on an authentic Civil War cornet and Lucy Holsonbake (AL), Communication Studies and Theatre, performing the historic poem “Casey at the Bat.”
Special guests will also include the acclaimed John Adams Elementary School Orff Ensemble, a group of young musicians playing a full range of unique Orff instruments, and more than 50 young instrumentalists from Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax elementary schools performing alongside the Alexandria Campus Band.
