NOVA “Top of the List” of Colleges and Universities

February 22, 2011

In addition to being the largest institution of higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia, NOVA now has new bragging rights. According to the Washington Business Journal’s “Top of the List: Colleges and Universities,” NOVA is the largest college in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

The survey of the region’s colleges and universities shows NOVA’s fall 2010 enrollment of 46,796 students was 7,000 more than the second largest college.

University of Maryland University College was second with 39,577 students (25,686 undergraduates and 13,891 graduate students). The University of Maryland at College Park came in third with 37,641 students (26,922 undergrads and 10,719 graduate students). Fourth place went to George Mason University with 32,562 students (20,157 undergrads and 12,405 graduate students). Montgomery College, the only other community college in the top five, has 26,015 students.

Congratulations to everyone for making NOVA the “top!”
