Seniors invited to annual holiday luncheon at NOVA in Manassas

November 4, 2009

Registration will begin Nov. 9 for the annual Senior Citizens Holiday Celebration at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

This year’s party will take place on Dec. 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the campus cafeteria. Guests will be treated to a delicious lunch, musical entertainment and a special visit from Santa Claus.

The event is free but reservations are required because space is limited. Seniors are asked to call 703-257-6558 starting Nov. 9 to reserve no more than four spots per phone call. In fairness to everyone, early reservations will not be accepted.

Math instructor Patricia Gary, who has organized the event for 19 years, says the luncheon wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from the local business community.

“Every year our local businesses provide wonderful door prizes for our senior friends,” Gary said. “We like to send everyone home with at least one gift. They particularly enjoy gift cards for restaurants, grocery stores and services like a manicure or hair cut.”

Anyone who would like to contribute should call Marya Johnson at 703-530-8243. All donations will be acknowledged in the event program.
