A Free Midday Concert Featuring “The Band of the Nations Capital”

On July 16 at 1:30 p.m., the 257th Army Band of the District of Columbia’s National Guard, also known as “The Band of the Nation’s Capital” will perform at Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) Alexandria Campus. The free midday concert will feature music from the Big Bang era as well as hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Joining them in collaboration will be students from NOVA’s Summer Band Camp.
“The Band of the Nation’s Capital” operates under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Sheila M. Klotz. Some of the bands noteworthy performances include musical support for the Inauguration of President Obama, burial of the Unknown Soldier in 1921, the state funerals of Presidents Harding and Kennedy, overseas deployments to Greece and Panama, consecutive appearances at the Great American Brass Band Festival in Kentucky and concert tours throughout New England, Texas and the Mid-Atlantic.
