Seniors invited to celebrate the holidays at Northern Virginia Community College in Manassas
November 5, 2008
Registration will begin Nov. 10 for the annual Senior Citizens Holiday Celebration at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. This year’s party will take place on Dec. 2 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the campus cafeteria.
Guests will enjoy a delicious lunch, musical entertainment and a special visit from Santa Claus. The event is free but reservations are required since space is limited. Seniors are asked to call 703-257-6558 starting Nov. 10 to reserve a spot. To keep the process fair for everybody, early reservations will not be accepted.
Math instructor Patricia Gary, who has organized the event for 18 years, is hoping the current economic climate won’t put a damper on the luncheon.
“In the past, we have enjoyed tremendous support from the community and we feel sure our local businesses will once again provide door prizes for our senior citizens,” Gary said. “We try to send everyone home with at least one gift. They particularly appreciate gift cards for restaurants, grocery stores and services like a hair cut or manicure.”
Anyone who would like to contribute toward this worthy cause should call 703-530-8243. All contributors will be acknowledged in the event program.
