Mixed media prints and drawings on display at NOVA-Loudoun
September 8, 2008
The Loudoun Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host an exhibit of mixed media prints and drawings by Elzbieta Sikorska of Silver Spring, Md., from Sept. 22 to Oct. 17 in Waddell Art Gallery. A preview reception is scheduled for Sept. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. The campus is located at 1000 Harry Flood Byrd Highway in Sterling, and the gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“Nature, primarily forest, has been the subject of my drawings for many years,” Sikorska said in her artist’s statement. “At some point I started using landscape as a background for images of wild animals superimposed over it. The concept of landscape drawing serving as a ‘Lascaux wall’ for animal images has been coming to life gradually and more recently I began to translate this idea into multimedia work, including printmaking.”
