NOVA-Manassas sets open house for new academic center
October 6, 2008
The community is invited to tour Northern Virginia Community College’s newest academic center on Oct. 14 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Located in the Innovation Business Center, the new site provides the Manassas Campus with much-needed additional space to serve students.
“We outgrew our buildings at the Manassas Campus a long time ago,” Provost Hortense Hinton said. “We had been leasing space at a local school but the classrooms were available only in the evenings and our students want more classes during the daytime. Innovation gives us greater scheduling flexibility since we can use the space whenever we determine a need.”
Innovation has seven classrooms, one computer lab, a student lounge, conference room, faculty resource room and abundant free parking.
In recent years, NOVA has opened academic centers in Arlington and Reston to augment its six campuses in Alexandria, Annandale, Loudoun, Manassas, Springfield and Woodbridge.
“NOVA is expanding into areas that make sense for our students,” Hinton said. “We looked at local growth and concluded the Innovation Business Center is well situated to serve the exploding population in the Bristow region. It is also a convenient location to provide employee training for all the companies that are moving to the Innovation area.”
The academic center is at 9485 Innovation Drive, just off University Boulevard between Godwin Drive and the Prince William Parkway in Manassas. To learn more, call 703-530-8266.
