Medical Education Campus to Participate in Health Information Privacy and Security Week
April 15, 2009 9:30 AM
In cohesion with the Health Information Privacy and Security Week, the Medical Education Campus is raising awareness on the critical need to educate and inform healthcare professionals, institutions and consumers about actively protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of health information. To ensure information is protected throughout healthcare’s transition to electronic health information management systems, consumers must remain aware of risks; including electronic clinical records, personal health records and electronic prescribing.
NOVA’s student organization, Health Information Management Leaders of Tomorrow (HIMLOT) will have Health Information Management (HIM) Director Shelia Coverson and Health Information Technology’s (HIT) Senior Consultant, Victor Eilenfield giving lectures on the importance of ‘Maintaining the Privacy and Security of Health Information HIPAA’ and ‘Title 18 Statues’ as they affect HIM Professionals.
Wednesday, April 15
9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Medical Education Campus of Northern Virginia Community College
