U.S. Park Police to provide demonstration of air medical transport to EMS students
November 2, 2010 10:00 AM
On Nov. 3, United States Park Police will discuss operational aspects of air medical transport and allow emergency medical services (EMS) students to fly in a helicopter and see firsthand what the environment is like during a medical emergency. This is a final class activity for EMS 157 at NOVA’s Medical Education Campus. The U.S. Park Police crew will land the helicopter on the front lawn of the campus around 11 a.m.
The EMS 157 course continues the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Intermediate and/or Paramedic curricula. The course applies techniques which allow the students to utilize the assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for a trauma patient.
