NOVA-Manassas launches Global Learning Center

Northern Virginia Community College will celebrate the launch of the Manassas Campus Global Learning Center at noon Sept. 29. The ceremony will take place at the Harris Pavilion in Old Town Manassas during the Manassas Latino Festival. 

Expected speakers include Manassas Mayor Harry J. Parrish II; NOVA Board Member Sheryl Bass; Prince William County Public Schools Superintendent Steven L. Walts; Sindy Benavides, Civic Engagement and Community Mobilization Director, League of United Latin American Citizens; John Villamil, Executive Vice President and CIO, The ASPIRA Association; and Alicia Colgan, Program Administrator, Global Learning Center.

The purpose of the Global Learning Center is to reach out to all international and immigrant communities to help non-native English speakers achieve career and educational goals while they are improving English language skills. Free English tutoring sessions are provided along with informative workshops that promote employee advancement and personal growth. 

The Global Learning Center is located on NOVA’s Manassas Campus at 6901 Sudley Road. Staff and instructors speak several languages including Spanish, Arabic, Korean, Polish, Chinese and Vietnamese.
