Biotech Boot Camp for high school science teachers

What
On July 31, high school science teachers will go back to college to learn biotechnology experiments they can use in their classrooms. Teachers from Prince William, Fairfax and Loudoun public schools will participate in three hands-on workshops to practice biotechnology techniques during a one-day “Biotech Boot Camp” at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

Agenda
9:30 to 10:30 a.m.:  Welcome and biotechnology overview
10:45 a.m. to noon:  Workshop on column chromatography to detect pollutants in water
Noon to 1 p.m.:  Lunch (Cafeteria)
1:15 to 2:30 p.m.:  Workshop on forensic DNA analysis using DNA gel electrophoresis
2:45 to 3:45 p.m.:  Workshop on immunology
