“The 39 Steps,” written by Samuel French, was inspired by novelist John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock. David Tyson, assistant professor of communication studies and theatre arts at NOVA-Woodbridge, directs and designed the production. He describes the action-packed thriller as a comic relief, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats.

“This is a great show that is very fast-paced and suspenseful,” said Tyson. “It has a little bit of everything in it—love, murder and mayhem. This production was initially a melodrama that was developed into a comedy. We have trains, planes, and cars that will appear on stage, all done with only five NOVA Players’ actors that will appear as multiple characters. There is a lot of physical humor and combat-fighting for people of all ages to enjoy.”

Tickets are $8 for general admission (including NOVA faculty and staff), $6 for NOVA students, children ages 5- 13, seniors and emergency service organizations and $5 for military. Only cash will be accepted for entry.

Open parking for the event will be available in Lot B.  For additional information, contact David Tyson at dtyson@nvcc.edu or 703-878-6114.
