General meeting of NOVA College Board to be held Sept. 11 at 1776 Crystal City


The Northern Virginia Community College Board will meet on Monday, Sept. 11. Committees will meet from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.; there will be a presentation on Workforce presentation from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 and the Board will conduct general business from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at 1776 Crystal City, 2231 Crystal Dr., #1000 (Tenth Floor), Arlington, VA 22202 (garage parking available). 1776 is a business incubator in which NOVA is its first college partner.
 
NOVA’s Board meeting will include remarks from special guest Eleanor Saslaw, VCCS Board Chair as well as final FY2017 reports from the Finance, Building and Sites Advisory Committee; FY2018 budget presentation and a Project and Properties Status Report. The Board will present members of Advisory Committees as well as the recommended student liaison to the NOVA Board for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Board will also consider the NOVA Strategic Plan 2017-2023: Pathway to the American Dream. The Finance, Building and Sites Advisory Committee will also seek Board approval for the FY2019 Local Board Budget, Local Capital Outlay Requirements and a monument initiative on the Alexandria Campus.
 
Based in Washington, D.C., 1776 is a venture fund that focuses specifically on uncovering and supporting startups that have the potential to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges in industries like education, health, and energy.
