Regulations

TO THE STUDENTS:
We strive to make your testing experience a smooth and comfortable one. As such, we respectfully ask that you adhere to the following:

  • Bring a valid picture ID and your new student ID number (EMPLID#) to take any exam.

  • Only authorized testing materials are allowed in the testing rooms. All personal items, including cell phones (turned off, silenced, not set to vibrate), wallets, purses, keys, papers, book bags, etc. will be secured in a locker or stored at the Testing Counter.

  • For liability purposes, do not bring children to the Testing Center.      

 All tests must be completed 15 minutes before closing.

Plan ahead!!  Please keep in mind that you must arrive at the the testing center:

  •  2 hours  before closing to take the English or Math Placement exams

  • 3 hours before closing to take the ESL Placement exam (ACCUPLACER)

  • 90 minutes before closing to take Instructor Referred exams.  Instructor timings have priority, so please plan accordingly.

  • 2 hours before closing to take Computer Competency exams

  • 90 minutes before closing to take ELI Exams

TO THE FACULTY:
When sending students to the Testing Center, please remind them that they will need:

  • Current & valid picture identification (driver's license, military id, passport, etc.)

  • Course title and number

  • To begin test at least 1.5 hours prior to closing (or earlier for longer tests)

When requesting Testing Center services, please keep the following in mind:

A Medical Education Campus Testing Services Request Form must always be submitted for exam administration.

  • List all names for students who are authorized to take the test in the space provided. Number of students per exam is limited to 6 students.

  • If a student requires special accommodations, please write SWA by their name on the form.

  • Make certain to provide an expiration date for tests in the space provided.

  • Provide the center with all copies needed to administer tests.

  • List the instructor's name, course title and number on the test.

  • Provide the tests to the center well in advance of the scheduled testing time.

  • For test security we do not accept exams via email, fax or hand-carried by students.  If an exam is received in any manner other than described above, TC staff will shred it accordingly.

  • Do not use student assistants and workers to pick-up and/or deliver test.

  • When sending tests by campus mail, please make sure the envelope is secure by using confidential stickers across the seal flap.

  • If you need to change an end date or add other information for a test already at the Testing Center, please make these changes in person or email us at mectesting@nvcc.edu. We will not accept handwritten notes delivered by students or phone calls for test changes.

 These policies assure test security for both the instructor and Testing Center personnel.

  • Please review the Testing Services Request form to ensure accuracy & completeness.

  • Remember that the center does not administer tests for entire classes or give makeup tests or final exams during scheduled final exams week.   Exception: MTH 001 students and Students with Accommodations (SWA) are permitted to take exams during finals week. Please indicate a SWA  student by writing SWA by the student's name.
