K-12 Outreach: Healthcare Careers Bridge Program
What is the Healthcare Careers Bridge Program (HCBP)?
HCBP is a pilot program accepting 25 recent Virginia high school graduates interested in becoming a nurse or allied health professional. The program is designed to help students develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, math and reading skills while introducing them to potential careers in nursing and allied health. The five weeks is the initial entry into a year-long program. HCBP students also receive ongoing academic and advising support throughout their freshman year.

When: It begins with an intensive five week summer program from July 7, 2008 through August 8, 2008.
How do I apply?
- Complete the Bridge Application. Include a personal statement that explains your motivation and interest in participating with the Bridge Program and pursuing a career in either nursing or allied health.
- Request that a previous teacher, school counselor or someone who knows you well complete the recommendation form.
- Provide one unofficial copy of your high school transcript.
- Complete a Northern Virginia Community College Application.
