Second only to the Federal Government in number of individual employees in the region, the health care industry is one of the fastest growing employment sectors both regionally and nationally. Aging populations of both service recipients and service providers are creating immediate demands for increasing the pool of competent, employment-ready personnel in all areas of nursing and allied health. Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) has long been recognized as a primary provider of health care profession education. With eight Associate Degree programs, more than a dozen certificate programs, and trend-setting pre-employment programs for paraprofessionals, the College is prepared to meet increasing and changing needs of the healthcare industry for workforce development.

Through the implementation of the Healthcare Services Institute, Northern Virginia Community College is proactive in supporting the growth of the region's health care industry. By providing a single point of contact for the industry to the myriad of programs offered by the College, the Institute will be a user-friendly portal to the array of programs and customized training available through NVCC.
