Program Continuation Requirements

All courses in the program major must be completed with a grade of "C" or better before taking the next course in the sequence. 

All courses in the major must be taken in the sequence prescribed in the catalog.

Program faculty and clinical affiliates reserve the right to recommend, through appropriate channels, withdrawal of any student who neither exhibits safe performance nor adheres to prescribed clinical affiliate policies and procedures.
Physical and mental health must be maintained for continuance in the program. Applicants must be free of any physical and or mental conditions which might adversely affect their acceptance or performances in the program. The college reserves the right to require medical examinations to verify continuing competence. 
As required by the Joint Review Committee on Radiologic Education, students who become pregnant while attending the Radiography program must notify the program head immediately. Under no circumstances may a pregnant student continue instruction in a radiation environment when she has exceeded the safe limits as specified by the maximum permissible dose level for a pregnant occupationally exposed student.

Responsibilities of Radiography Students

To prepare for the high ethical standards of the health professions, the College expects absolute academic honesty both in the classroom and in clinical practice. 
Students in the Radiography Program incur a variety of additional expenses. These include the cost of uniforms, accessories and travel to clinical assignments.
A strict dress code is required in the clinical setting.
Students must provide their own transportation to clinical assignments. Students may be required to attend both day and/or evening assignment. Students will be required to rotate to various clinical sites to obtain clinical competencies.

Essential Radiography Program Functions

To successfully complete the clinical component of the Program, the student must be able to perform all of the essential functions of a radiographer.

Communicate satisfactorily with clients, physicians, peers and ancillary staff.

See and hear adequately to note slight changes in the client's condition.
Hear adequately to perceive and interpret various equipment signals.
See adequately to read emergency monitor data.

Work with arms fully extended overhead.

Lift and move 50 pounds at waist level or below waist level.
Stand in place for extended periods of time (30 Minutes to 3 hours)
Walk rapidly for a prolonged period from one area to another (20-100 feet) carrying up to 25 pounds.

Despite the foregoing, no otherwise qualified person with a disability who can perform these essential functions with reasonable accommodation will be denied admission to the program.

Clinical Environment

The student should realize that student radiographers are, by nature of the profession, exposed regularly to: ionizing radiation, infectious diseases, combative and difficult patients.
