NOVA Alert System

Notification Procedures

In the event of an emergency you will be notified by various means depending on the emergency.

Fire-The Fire Alarm will activate clear strobes will begin to flash through out the building.

Shelter-In- Place- You will hear a siren followed by the words “POLICE TAKE SHELTER “ .

Tornado- You will hear a siren followed by the words “TORNADO SEEK SHELTER “.

Evacuation-The Fire Alarm will activate clear strobes will begin to flash through out the building.

 

Once the Emergency has ended you will hear “RESUME ACTIVITY” followed by chimes.

 

All these notifications will be made over the Emergency Alert System with the exception of the fire alarm. If You have any questions about any of these methods please contact College Police at (703) 822-6677

 

NOVA Alert

 A new emergency alert system that will send text messages to your cell phone and to your personal email addresses. This will let us communicate with you during times when timely and accurate information is vital. To be part of NOVA Alert, you must register for it!

You can find out more about NOVA Alert and register for it by going to http://alert.nvcc.edu, or text the keyword “NOVA” to 411911 from your cell phone.  (You do not need to register your college student or faculty/staff email address—we will automatically send to that address.)
