I am interested in finding employment
in healthcare, but I'm not sure what type of work I want
to do.
Consider which type of work setting you
prefer as well as your long-term goals. Do you want employment
in a nursing home? A hospital? A doctor's office? Home health
agency? Dentist office? Speak to individuals currently working
in the field. Talk to employers in the area. The more knowledgeable
you are about careers in health care, the better you can
be in selecting courses that fit your career interests.

When do I need to receive screening
for Tuberculosis and vaccination for Hepatitis B?
If you have not had a tuberculosis screening
in the last 10 months, you will need to be tested (either
a skin test or chest x-ray). Testing can be done at a local
health department, hospital or by your personal physician.
Vaccination for Hepatitis B is not required but strongly
recommended. If you decide not to get the Hepatitis B vaccine,
than you will need to sign a declination form. All documents
(TB test result, proof of Hepatitis B vaccine OR declination
form) must be turned in to the Continuing Education office
by the first day of class. These documents are required
prior to all clinical experience. Healthcare facilities
may also require proof of immunization for Tetanus And Rubella.
They may also require drug screens and criminal background
checks.
