REQUEST FOR REFUNDS AFTER THE DEADLINE

Please be aware that all requests for refunds made after the refund deadline are EXCEPTIONS TO VCCS POLICY. The requests must be in writing .

ONLY THOSE REQUESTS MEETING THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA WILL BE CONSIDERED:

• Administrative error of the College or the VCCS (Supporting documentation must be provided by the student).
• An extended illness or major medical emergency occurring during the semester for which the student is registered, which requires hospitalization, is life-threatening, or is contagious and a danger to the remainder of the College community. The student must have been absent more than 10% of the session length. A written verification by the attending physician is required.
• Death of the student or a member of the student's immediate family.
• A national emergency or mobilization declared by the President of the United States.

THESE ARE RESTRICTIONS SET BY THE STATE BOARD OF THE VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM. NO refunds are granted once the last day to withdraw without grade penalty has passed for a session or term.

MANDATORY STEPS FOR REQUESTING AN EXCEPTION TO POLICY

In order to request an exception to the established refund policy, a student must:

1. Withdraw from ALL classes for the Semester in question. Refund requests for only part of the classes for which a student is enrolled cannot be considered unless College error or special circumstances are involved, i.e., physical injury preventing attendance in a PED course. (Documentation required)
2. Write a letter requesting a refund exception, stating the reasons the student feels a refund is justified, attaching all documentation. All correspondence must contain the student's identification number (social security number or school assigned number).
