Math Placement Test - Frequently Asked Questions

 

When can I take the Math placement test again?

The Math placement test can be retaken after 3 months. The scores are good for 1 year.

Can I use scratch paper for working out problems on the Math placement test?

Yes. There are pencils and scratch paper available in the Testing Center.

Can I use my calculator for the Math placement test?

No. You may use the calculator provided in the Math placement test program.

Is there a time limit for the Math placement test?

No. Please take as much time as you need, but you must start a placement test at least 2 hours before the Testing Center's closing time.

How can I prepare for the Math placement test?

Use the link provided to review a sample Math placement test. Additional resources are available in the Library and Learning Lab.

One (1) printed copy of your Math placement test scores is given to you by the Testing Center. The Counseling Center, the Math Department, and some of your instructors may require proof of your placement by reviewing these printed score sheets.
If you need to refer to your placement test scores, or print extra copies, they are available by logging into NOVAConnect. Your test scores will be posted in your permanent student record data base for proof of your class placement.
