OBJECTIVES of DESIGN I: To explore various elements and principles of 2 and 3 dimensional design.  This will be done through a series of  formal design problems executed in black & white media.  All of the problems are geared to help the student control the diverse elements that make up the artistic attempt at visual communication.  This is a performance class where accuracy and neatness are a necessary objective.

GRADES:  Will be based completely on projects assigned and critiqued in class; therefore, attendance is extremely important.  All class projects are due on assigned dates as there will be a weekly class critique and projects will be collected at that time.  Projects are graded when due.  Projects not presented on due dates receive lower grade considerations.

Each project is to be presented in the highest technical quality.  Low quality work can be redone to improve the grade but late work will receive a lower grade.

Any student with special instructional requirements, please see me during the first week of class.  The student may also need to see the ADA counselor in the Counseling Office.

ATTENDANCE is very important for classroom lectures, critiques, and participation; therefore, the student is expected to be on time for the beginning of the class and remain for the entire class period. Please do not make doctors’ or other           appointments during class time.  More than 3 absences may put your final letter grade in jeopardy.  Also, please             disable all cell phones, pagers and text messaging  devices before class begins.

It is the student's responsibility to be certain that  they are correctly registered for this course. If you must drop the course, it is your responsibility to do so before the end of the 10th week of class (Oct. 27) or an automatic "F" will result
