 About the Division
     The mission of Northern Virginia Community College is "to respond to the educational needs of its dynamic and diverse constituencies through an array of comprehensive programs and services that facilitate learning and workforce development in an environment of open access and through lifelong educational opportunities."

     The Communications Technologies & Social Sciences Division attempts to fulfill that mission within the applicable college goals of

  • providing a diverse, highly qualified, energetic, and dynamic faculty and staff dedicated to and enhancing student success;
  • developing and acquiring adequate fiscal, capital, and community resources and to using those resources efficiently and effectively to provide the physical environment and tools necessary to assure student success; and
  • providing an instructional program that is accessible, affordable, and educationally sound and that supports the needs of a diverse student body and enhances student success.

     The persons most responsible for our success are our clients--our current students, our potential students, our business associates, and other administrative units. We as educators are here to provide a quality product that meets the expectations of our clients and that allows them to achieve their desired goals, whether they want to transfer to a university, gain employment skills, upgrade their current skills, or just learn something new. We strive to meet these goals by providing the highest quality of instruction in credit programs, noncredit programs, and student services; responding to changes in technology, regional demographics, and educational needs; and ensuring that individuals have the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills, knowledge, and values.
