Advising at Loudoun Campus: Transfer and Technical Degree Programs

Transfer Degree Programs

Students enrolled in a transfer degree program, (e.g., A.S. or A.A. Degree) should go to the Counseling Center for academic advisement. Counselors will advise all transfer students and assist in planning the remainder of their program.

All students in a transfer degree program will be assigned a graduation faculty advisor. The graduation faculty advisor will certify that all course requirements for the degree have been met and will make the initial decisions on any substitutions and waivers. Students do not need to meet with the graduation faculty advisor unless they are requesting a substitution and waiver for a course.

To graduate, students must apply for graduation by completing an "Application for Graduation" form at the Office of Admissions and Records. The Office of Admissions and Records will then forward the application for graduation to the student’s graduation faculty advisor to certify that all course requirements have been met.

Technical Degree Programs

Students should work with a counselor to plan a program for meeting their educational objectives. Students who intend to enroll in a technical degree program, (e.g., A.A.S. or A.A.A. Degree), should go to the Counseling Center for advisement and program placement. Students will then be assigned a faculty advisor from that program. Counselors will refer students to faculty advisors for technical questions or substitutions and waivers. When the student applies for graduation, the faculty advisor will review the student’s file. Please note, once program placed in Information Systems Technology, students should seek advisement from their faculty advisor in planning the remainder of their program.
