Career Testing

Career assessments can assist you with exploring your interests, preferences, skills, and values.  To take any of the career assessments, you need to first meet with a career counselor to help you determine which assessment would be most appropriate.  Please contact the Counseling office to make a career counseling appointment.  The following assessments are computerized.  Some of the assessments have paper/pencil versions.

Strong Interest Inventory and Skills Confidence Inventory
This computerized assessment will assist you with the career planning process by assessing your interests and perceived skills.  This inventory requires an initial appointment and an interpretation session with a counselor.  There is a nominal fee for the inventory.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
This computerized personality assessment examines your preferences in relation to potential careers and work environments.  This inventory requires an initial appointment and an interpretation session with a counselor.  There is a nominal fee for the inventory.

Please Understand Me
This is a shortened computerized version of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which provides you with information about your personality preferences.  To take this assessment, you must contact the Counseling office to schedule an appointment to reserve computer time.  This assessment is free of charge.

Choices CT
This interactive computerized career guidance program helps you examine your  interests, skills, and aptitude in relation to potential careers and majors.  Choices CT provides valuable information on occupations, schools, programs of study, financial aid, job searching, resume writing, and interviewing.  This program is free of charge.

Virginia View
This is a computerized information system relating to careers and educational programs specific to Virginia.  There is no cost to use the program.
