Mathematics at

| Prerequisites are (1) satisfactory score on
an appropriate proficiency examination and (2) MTH 163 or MTH 166 or two
units of algebra, one unit of geometry, and one-half unit of
precalculus. Presents limits, continuity, differentiation of algebraic
and transcendental functions with applications, and an introduction to
integration. Lecture 3 hours per week. |

Current textbook:
Required: Applied Calculus, third edition, by Hughes-Hallett, et.
al.
A graphing calculator
is required for this course. The strongly preferred models are the TI-83 or 83-plus
or 84-plus.
Instruction on these models will be provided. For all other models,
students will have to refer to the users' manual. There are calculator
resources on reserve in the library.
