Precalculus and Trigonometry

Prerequisites are a satisfactory score on
an appropriate proficiency examination and Algebra II and Geometry, or
the equivalent of these two courses. Presents college algebra, analytic
geometry, trigonometry, and algebraic, exponential, and logarithmic
functions. (Credit cannot be awarded for both MTH 163 and MTH 166.)
Lecture 5 hours per week.

Current Textbook:
Precalculus: Enhanced with Graphing Utilities,
5th edition, by Sullivan.
A graphing calculator
is required for this course. The strongly preferred models are the
TI-83-plus or 84-plus.
Instruction on these models will be provided. For all other models,
students will have to refer to the users' manual. There are calculator
resources on reserve in the library.
