Mars Rover Mission

The Mars Exploration Rover Spirit touched down on Mars January 4, 2004.  After a flawless landing, Spirit deployed a special high resolution camera.  Spectacular pictures of a rock speckled landscape have been sent back to earth. The Spirit will be exploring diverse landscapes on Mars, including a deep crater nicknamed "Sleepy Hollow".  Over the next three months, Spirit will be roving around looking for evidence of a warmer and wetter planet that may have been conducive to life.
