Airline Safety

On November 19, 2001, President Bush signed The Aviation and Transportation Security Act in an effort to make flying safer. For the first time, airport safety will become a federal responsibility.  New federal personnel will be hired to screen baggage and check passengers for carry on items. Within the coming year, the federal government will hire about 28,000 airport baggage screeners. Funds will also be provided for federal air marshalls.
