Aging Baby Boomers
America's largest population cluster, the baby boomers, is becoming eligible to collect Social Security benefits. In January, 2008, the oldest baby boomer will turn 62. A member of the baby boom generation will reach that age every 8 seconds, for the next 18 years. 78 million Americans make up the group born between 1946 and 1964.
