2002 Winter Olympics![]()
For the first time since 1996 when the games were held in Atlanta, the Olympic Flame returns once again to the United States. The torch relay took a 65 day journey from Atlanta, through 46 states and was carried by 11,500 torchbearers, to Salt Lake City, Utah.
On February 8, 2002, the opening ceremonies
of the 2002 Winter Games begins. Throughout the 17 days of competition, it is
estimated that nearly 3.5 billion people worldwide will be watching.
