Group Study Room policies
The Group Study Rooms are to be used for small
group study.
The rules are as follows:
- Groups of three or
more will have priority use of group study rooms.
- Group study rooms are
available on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the honor system. No
reservations will be taken.
- All persons using the
room must follow the NVCC student conduct policies outlined in
<www.nvcc.edu/resources/stuhandbook/>. No smoking or other inappropriate
behavior is permitted.
- Group study rooms are
for group study only. Sleeping, card playing, partying and other non study
activities are prohibited.
- If only one person is
in the room, that person must vacate if requested by a group of three or
more. One individual cannot hold the room for others who may be coming at a
later time.
- Personal property may
not be left unattended to reserve a study room by an individual or group.
Personal property left unattended in an unoccupied study room is considered
to be lost and will be removed. “Lost and Found” items can be claimed
by owners at the Campus Police office LR267A.
- Other posted signs
such as Occupied, Do Not Disturb, etc. are not permitted in the group
study rooms. Any obstruction of the windows is prohibited.
- Privacy is not
guaranteed when using the study rooms. NVCC staff reserve the right to enter
any group study room at any time without prior permission of the occupants.
- Patrons must limit
the amount of noise from conversations and equipment so as not to unduly
disturb other patrons in the area. Audio-visual equipment may be used in
study rooms as long as the sound does not disturb others outside the room.
The use of earphones is encouraged. Patrons are also encouraged to use the
audio visual equipment in the library.
Consequences of failing
to comply with these rules:
Patrons failing to comply
with these rules may be asked to leave the group study rooms. Campus Police will
be contacted in the event of disruptive behavior.
