Publishing to NovaWeb

 

Installing WS_FTP (HOME)

1)         A 30-day trial version of WS-FTP is available at www.ipswitch.com.

2)        Or,  you can use this program on the lab computers.

Using WS_FTP

1)         Log on to your Internet Service Provider (HOME) - If using system at college start with Step 2.

2)         Go to Start, Programs, WS_FTP, and open WS_FTP  LE.

3)         The Session Properties dialog box will appear.

 

 

4)         Select the Startup Tab and make sure all boxes are clear of information.

 

5)         Select the General Tab and Enter the following information in the text boxes:

6)         Click OK

 7)         If another password box appears, just type your college password and click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

8)         Now you are in your personal directory on the NovaWeb server. 

The LEFT PANEL, Local System, is your computer.

The RIGHT PANEL, Remote System, is the NovaWeb Server.  If the text box at the top of the Remote System panel does not contain your username, select ChrDir (Change Directory) button on the Remote System.  Type in the following information in the dialog box:  /home/username

            Then click OK. 

 

        

9)         If you have never published to this folder before, delete the default.htm file.  This file was created for you by the College.  To delete a file, highlight it and press the Delete button. You then will need to transfer YOUR default.htm file.  Make sure you have named the file that you wish to publish as your home page - default.htm

10)      To transfer a file from your computer (Local System)  to NovaWeb (Remote System),  highlight the file to transfer and click on the   (arrow  ) button and the file will be transferred to your directory on the NovaWeb. Repeat the procedure until you have finished transferring your files.

11)      When you have finished, click Exit to close the program.
