  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What’s required to be a speech faculty member or an adjunct faculty member at NOVA?

A NOVA adjunct faculty member must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in their teaching field.

Is there a limit on the number of classes adjunct faculty may teach each year at Northern Virginia Community College?

Yes.  NOVA adjunct faculty members may teach a maximum of 26 credit hours in one calendar year with the calendar beginning summer semester.  Adjunct faculty teaching load is not to exceed 14 credit hours in any one semester. This limit includes all classes taught by an individual at the five campuses of Northern Virginia Community College.
