He has provided us with a practical explanation about the nature of  intelligence and the relationship to creativity-- which should result in the eventual development of wisdom; and, which leads to his current model of intelligence known as the WICS Model, which defines the relationship between the cognitive domains of intelligence, creativity and wisdom.</FONT></div> <bR> <div>  He has spent his professional life addressing important issues in the areas of thinking, human intelligence and intellectual development, reasoning and problem-solving, creativity, love and relationships, social and practical competence, psycho-educational studies, exploration of the characteristics and needs of the gifted, along with a new definition of giftedness.  He has investigated the psychology of hate, has studied the dynamics of leadership and management; the dynamics of wisdom as the synthesis, application and demonstration of one’s practical  intelligence; and, more recently, has examined the essential components necessary for student success. </div> <bR> <div> He is one of the revolutionary thinkers who contributes to the scientific revolution in cognitive psychology that challenges the community of scholars who espouse more traditional IQ analytical models and theories. He has countered  traditional views of intelligence that are limited to the old modes of thinking about intelligence; and consequently, these traditional models impact the academy of  teaching and learning,-- in that many of these models are no longer effective, workable, practical, or realistic solutions. </div> <bR> <div> Sternberg’s model calls for the integration of intelligence and creativity. I especially like his  novel perspective-- that creative people tend to buy low and sell high in the realm of ideas and take great risks in doing so.  He examines creativity in children and adults, and has prescribed ways to encourage creativity in human development.</div> <bR> <div> There are many aspects of his work that puts him in  the forefront as a revolutionary and leading thinker. This combined with all of his other contributions– for example, his Triarchic Theory of Intelligence, the development of the Triarchic Ability IQ test, the many handbooks on creativity, intelligence, wisdom and more, Handbooks on how to succeed on the Miller’s Analogy Test, handbooks on writing research papers, the numerous international awards and scholarly prizes, fellowships and honorary doctorates, more than a thousand books, articles and other publications,  makes Robert Sternberg an amazing and extremely gifted giant in the field.</div> <bR> <div> These days, Bob is spending more of his time teaching leadership development and being an  administrator and manager, as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University. Here again, in this setting, he is creating another revolution in college admissions as he has been given the endorsement by many officials in higher education to lead the way in redefining the identification, selection and admissions processes and policies for college entrance-- toward an end result of producing a new generation of future leaders who represent diverse strengths.  He calls for a new model of teaching for leadership that includes teaching for responsibility, analytical, creative, practical and wise thinking. He believes that this new paradigm will improve student achievement for all students, but especially for those who do not learn best in traditional ways.</div> <bR> <div> More importantly, Robert Sternberg is a down to earth “real person.”  No pretentions about him. He is easy to talk to and a real genuine, witty person.  Just a lot of fun to be around!  What a wonderful combination of qualities–to be gifted but not loose the common touch.  There is so much more I could share with  the public about Robert Sternberg-- a great thinker and leader. Of the total</B></I><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" ><I><B> </B></I></FONT><I><B>number of</B></I><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" ><I><B> </B></I></FONT><I><B>Tufts students on the Medford-Somerville campus, approximately 4,300 are undergraduates and 1,200 are graduate students. Most of these students study under the largest division of the University, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. This division comprises the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Engineering, the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and the College of Special Studies.</B></I><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" ><I><B> </B></I></FONT><I><B>Dr. Sternberg also is a senior scholar at Harvard University‘s, Kennedy School of Government, Center for Public Leadership.</B></I></div> <div> <I><B>Sternberg is former professor of management and IBM professor of psychology and education at Yale University; and, former chair of the department.
