Overview of Seminar:
"Through role play and interactive activities, the research on effective and equitable teaching strategies is brought to life. In addition to western research, the role of chakras is explored, and participants are encouraged to apply eastern insights to designing more meaningful learning."
About the Presenter:
David Sadker is a professor of Education at American University, Washington, DC. Dr. Sadker and his late wife Myra Sadker gained a national reputation for work in confronting gender bias and sexual harassment. Sadker has authored several books and many more scholarly articles on gender and other educational issues in the classroom, including ongoing editions of Teachers, Schools and Society ( 6th edition, 2003), Failing at Fairness: How America's Schools Cheat Girls (1995), and Teachers Make the Difference (Harper & Row, 1982).
Sadker lectures and conducts workshops on equity in the organization, analysis of teaching and supervision, curriculum development, teacher training and educational equity to a variety of educators and organizations, including state departments of education, colleges and universities, local school systems, independent schools, and private corporations. His professional presentations have spanned 46 states, Canada, Hungary, and Austria.
Sadker is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Harvard University and City College of New York. He also received the honorary Doctor of Letters from Gallaudet University and Pine Manor College. He is a recent recipient of the Gender Equity Architect Award, presented by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
