Transgenic Beings
January 17 - February 11, 2005
In my most recent series of color prints, Transgenic
Beings, I combine three-dimensional modeling with digital photographs of
projections on human bodies. These prints depict ambivalent encounters, in a
nearly familiar world, among beings whose art is painted on their skin. I
think of this work as simulated theatrical scenes. Actors and actresses wear
costumes made of projected light. I stage them in modeled tableaux and have
them interact with digital beings. I then render them at a high resolution.
Finally I work with a print shop to create giclée prints on archival
watercolor paper.
