Paintings, Wood Constructions
February 18 - March 22, 2013
I have created a group of works from different mediums all connected by my love for American history. My wooden constructions are inspired by the American tradition of quilting. I use salvaged and new pieces of wood to create a quilted pattern that tells a story through color and design.
My inspiration for my paintings comes from uncovered correspondence letters between family and friends starting from the Civil War, 1861, up to the late 20th century. Inspired by living histories through the generations, I have had the opportunity to experience life and death with multiple perspectives.
Although materials and processes may differ from piece to piece they are all connected by a linear thought and subject matter. I feel there is an importance for others to be exposed to these works of lives lost and almost forgotten.
